1950s Murano Zanfirico Latticinio Millefiori Crest Large Glass Paperweight

This beautiful Mid Century hand blown Murano art glass paperweight features stunning colorful ribbons of Zanfirico, a technique invented by glass makers on the Venetian island of Murano, Italy. The Zanfirico glass consists of fine filigree canes which have been stretched and twisted to form beautiful lattice patterns which here are rimmed with gold and silver. This piece also features Latticinio, the milk-white canes or threads, and finally an absolutely exquisite millefiori crown, a glasswork technique which produces distinctive decorative patterns. The term millefiori is a combination of the Italian words "mille" (thousand) and "fiori" (flowers). The colors and patterns of the millefiori on this piece are amazing complimenting twisted colorful ribbons perfectly. Polished bottom, very good condition, for accuracy there is one tiny rough spot on the side, and one tiny manufacturer ash inside on the bottom, both not noticeable at all, this beauty is amazing and overall perfect.
