From my research Hall & Knapp was in business from 1853 to 1857 when they merged with A. Stanley & Co. to form the Stanley Rule & Level Co. The stamp is clear and readable (if a little worn). The level is approximately 30” long and very dense and heavy (appears to be rosewood to the best of my judgement-I’ve seen some references they also made them out of Mahogany, but this looks like Rosewood to me). The horizontal vial is intact and operable. The vertical level does not appear to be intact (no bubble in the vial). Please email with any questions.
