About the Book: Any collector who has wished he could carry the Guide to the Makers of American Wooden Planes in his pocket at flea markets, auctions, or estate sales will be happy with this new Field Guide. Tom Elliott has included all the imprints (about 4500) from the fourth edition and has added over 550 new imprints. He has also provided all the star ratings shown before, as well as notations of the names on the planes, whether the name was for a maker or a hardware dealer, and the geographical locations and approximate dates for each entry.
Have you ever wondered about the names that are stamped in the front of wooden planes? This book provides a listing of the marks used by American planemakers, the dates that they were in existence, and their locations. A useful reference if you want to know more about the history of your wooden plane.
This book is in new condition in the publisher's original shrink-wrap.
In order to keep postage costs under control, I ship all books USPS Media Mail. I will do combined shipping for all books purchased within the same order. The first (i.e., heaviest) book ships for the calculated price. All other books in the combined shipment will ship for an additional $1 each. Because Media Mail is limited to printed materials, postage for tool purchases will be calculated separately.
I am new to this system. If the program overcharges you for postage, I will gladly refund the difference.
Please feel free to send me a note with any questions. I have been a hand tool collector and hand tool user for over 30 years.
