Set of 4 Marples/Record Shamrock chisels with Split Proof Handles. These chisels are New Old Stock (NOS) and have never been used or sharpened. Like any new chisels, it is recommended that the backs be flattened and the bevels honed prior to use.
Record Ridgeway Tools was formed in 1972 and the name changed to Record Holdings in 1985. I would guess that these chisels were made during that period.
The sizes of the chisels are ¼” (6mm), 3/8” (10mm), ½” (13mm), and ¾” (19mm). Blade lengths range from 3 ½” to 3 ¾”. Total length of chisels with handle range from 10-11” in length. Each chisel comes with a blue plastic blade guard. These chisels were manufactured in Sheffield, England so the steel is a step up from the chisels currently found in Harbor Freight or the “Big Box” stores.
These chisels would make a good starter set for someone just beginning their woodworking journey. Marples/Record chisels are not premium chisels like the Lie-Nielsen or Narex Richter versions, nor are they disposables like some of the current low cost Chinese imports. They were positioned in the market as providing solid performance at a reasonable price.
I also have some additional individual Marples 3/8” chisels that I am listing as well as a 1 1/4” chisel.
This will be shipped by the most economical method via USPS. Because the cost of shipping can vary depending upon the distance, size, and the weight of the item, I use the shipping calculator to estimate shipping costs for a single item. I also offer combined postage for multiple items placed in the same order. Unfortunately, the shipping calculator does not work as well for combined shipments as the box size often changes with multiple items.
In the event of an unrealistic shipping estimate or combined shipping, I will refund excess postage costs.
Shipping will typically be USPS Ground Advantage which is tracked and insured.
Please feel free to ask any questions.
Thanks for looking at my item.
