Scarce Stanley Number 110 Type 1 Block Plane. This rare Type 1 example has the signature shoe-buckle shaped lever cap with a fancy floral pattern cast into it, and interesting boat shaped footprint. The lever cap uses a unique four-prong brass screw/wheel to engage the blade and hold it in place. The highly decorative lever cap is held captive by a rod which screws into the left cheek of the plane and is free from any of the cracks or chips often found in these planes. The blade is proper for this plane and is flat, with no grooves on the back side. The ribbed pattern cast into the cheeks for gripping the plane is also unique to this model. The mouth of the plane is still in good shape, but there is a small hairline crack formed in one corner as shown in the pictures.

Let me know if you have any questions. I will take great care in packaging this rare piece of history, so rest assured it will arrive to you safely. I will also insure it for full purchase value in order to cover us both if the postal service destroys or loses the package along the way to you. As a result, the shipping is slightly higher on this plane than I normally would require for something this size.
