This vintage Westmoreland Glass, Green Mist Glass Bird Salt Dip is a beautifully crafted piece of art glass from Grapeville, Pennsylvania. Handmade in the mid-20th century, this pressed glass item is a charming addition to any collection or decorative display, measuring 5.25 inches in length and 2.75 inches in width. Based on my research, I believe this piece was originally a salt dip (cellar), where the sculpted insets to either side of the head were used for spoons. However, this piece would work very well as a candle holder (tea light or votive) or as a trinket dish. It has a lovely matte (satin glass) finish.
The bird is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks or signs of wear. Please note there is a glass pull on the back edge of the bird's head. It is smooth (polished) and is from the time of creation.
