Wooden Box With Lid

Vintage wooden box with lid on a small sliding hinge. Not sure what this is. It came in a box with a whole bunch of other stuff. It’s pretty cool. Maybe it was an ink well? Or perhaps an opium scale box? Ships free anywhere in the United States.
